About Our Maui.
We exist for one reason. To help residents of Maui, and anyone who cares about this place, understand what's happening to it. Plainly. With data. With sources.
Keep Maui Nui Home, LLC, is a 501(c)(4) organization dedicated to non-partisan, balanced education for Maui residents on issues that affect our quality of life. Our Maui is its home on the web, where we publish current, sourced information about the issues facing residents of Maui and the wider state.
What we do.
We work across four issues. Our Homes, the housing market and who can afford one. Our Costs, the cost of living on the most expensive islands in the country. Our Health, getting medical care on an island. And Our Dangers, the fires, floods, roads, and coastline. Alongside them, The Response tracks how Maui's leaders have actually answered.
Every claim on this site links to its source. We rely on primary documents and credible local outlets. We do not invent statistics or use anonymized data. If we cannot source it, we do not publish it.
Who we are for.
We are for residents first. The teacher in Wailuku trying to understand whether Bill 9 will affect her landlord. The Lahaina family still in a hotel asking what their settlement actually means. The Hāna kupuna whose nearest hospital is a 90-minute drive on a road that closes when it rains.
We are also for anyone outside Maui who wants to understand what is actually happening here. Coverage of our island from the mainland often misses the structural picture. We try to put it in front of you, clearly.
What we are not.
We do not endorse or oppose candidates for public office. We are not a news outlet, though we cite news outlets constantly. We are not neutral about the facts. We are clear about them.
Our 501(c)(4) status.
Keep Maui Nui Home is organized under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code, as a social welfare organization. We engage in education, lobbying, and issue advocacy as our exempt purpose. Donations to 501(c)(4) organizations are not tax deductible for the donor.
Paid advocacy spots produced by our organization carry the disclosure "Paid for by Keep Maui Nui Home." The educational content on this site is not paid advocacy.

Tell us your story.
This site is about, and for, the people of Maui. The numbers only matter because of the lives behind them.
If you've lived one of these issues, the rent that doubled, the clinic two islands away, the family that finally left, we want to hear it, and to help others hear it too.
